Near East Primary (Elementary) School

 

Near East Primary School, established with the permission and in accordance with the basic law of the Ministry of National Education and Culture in 1996, is a private elementary school under the body of the Near East University.
Our major objectives are ending the education principle that is based on memorizing the course contents, promoting and encouraging live practice of theoretical issues, teaching students how to reach information and gain knowledge, ensuring collaborative attitudes and behaviours of students, ensuring free thinking and creativeness, and making students love their country and respect to values of their society as well-disciplined figures.

Our school started education in 1996 with 6 classes, a director, a vice director, and 15 teachers and developed in terms of quality and quantity within a short while, and became a huge educational center in the contexture of the Near East University.

The Near East Primary (Elementary) School is 9 years old today. Our school is a fully equipped, contemporary education center that can carry out all sort of educational facilities with a director, a vice director, 45 full-time teachers and 410 students.

The Near East Primary School is a complex with 24 classrooms, 2 music training rooms, 2 painting rooms, a ceramics room, a black and white photo developing laboratory, a home economics room, an olympic size indoor sports hall, a gymnastics and ballet room, one English and one Turkish Library, and four computer laboratories.

The playing ground of our school is made of tartan and it is ensured that our children play in a joyful and safe environment. The playing ground is equipped with many sports equipment such as swinging, hanging and climbing robes, skateboarding area. We also have an indoor playing center for youngsters, which is furnished with all sort of toys.
The branch teachers and class teachers are allocated separate rooms and individual study tables to ensure effective studies and collaboration between teachers.

Near East Primary School offers full-time training and education to students. Each classroom is shared by 15-20 students. The school starts at 8:20 a.m. and goes on till 4:00 p.m. Teaching staff are selected carefully amongst experienced and highly qualified teachers. Students are given training and education so that they do not feel any need for private lessons, an there are 9 teaching hours a day, each hour consisting of 40 minutes.

In today’s world, English is considered as a universal language (lingua franca). So, English language teaching is given a special priority in our school. There are 12 English teachers employed amongst our teaching staff. In total, there are 12 hours dedicated to teaching English language a week, starting from the nursery school (two hours a day).

English classes are carried out in computer assisted training laboratories and students also improve their vocabulary and enjoy learning the foreign language in our English Library. Our students are provided with the opportunity to take the UCLES exam of Cambridge University which is administered in 150 countries to students whose language is other than English. Our students so far has been 100% successful in these exams. Moreover, in the last three years our teachers and a considerable number of students were successful in the exams of FLAYERS, a sub-part of UCLES at the second year level of the secondary school.

Apart from the compulsory curriculum that is required by the Ministry of Education, 2 hours computer lessons and 3 hours computer assisted training courses are carried out. All courses and lessons are carried out in accordance with the mandates of the Ministry of Education. There are three projection devices in use in our school.

Each students is provided with a computer and all computers are connected to internet. In third, fourth and fifth years Science and Maths courses are conducted in English.

The Near East Primary School’s teaching policy mainly focus on ensuring exploration of each child's individual talents, as well as developing their physical, psychological, and social talents through courses such as physical training, music, painting, and crafting. It is also aimed at attending to exhibitions as much as possible. Training facilities in these fields are given priority as much as educational courses. Facilities such as swimming, folk dances, tennis, table-tennis, gymnastics, basketball, football, sewing, household management, photography, crafting, journalism, theatre, ceramic works, badminton, scouting, music, construction of scientific devices are also provided and promoted. These facilities are carried out five days a week, in the afternoons. All facilities are carried out under the supervision of qualified teachers in their fields. Our school has gained numerous achievements both in painting and sport facilities and competitions.
Transportation facilities are provided by the transportation unit of the university. Transportation is available for almost all parts of the island. Students are collected from their houses and delivered to their houses after the school, and care hostesses are in charge in each coach.

Transportation costs, lunch, books and stationary, and school facilities are all included in the tuition fees. Students do not need to pay any extra fees for educational purposes.

Dinners are prepared under the control and supervision of a dietician in the kitchen of our school and are served hot. The dining hall of hour school has the capacity to serve to all students at the same time.
