Scholars
The scholarship system of the Near East University has a very important role in facilitating and promoting quality in our educational philosophy.
Scholarships, which have been approved by Turkish Republic Higher Education Commission and granted through Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM – ÖSYS) are offered at an extensive range . In accordance with the central placement system mentioned above, there are full and half scholarships available for students.
Scholarships are available for the students of all faculties. In fact, we would like to place a stress upon the fact that almost all the students studying at the departments and faculties of the university are scholarship awardees. These scholarships can be full or half, however most students are granted full scholarships.
The Near East University Foundation also grants ‘support awards’ in addition to ÖSYM-ÖSYS scholarships. These are available for the students who are in need of financial support.
Another kind of bursary is ‘Academic Achievement Scholarships’. Students in 16 faculties and 65 departments are eligible for academic achievement scholarships unexceptionally if their academic achievement is adequate as is specified by the faculty. A student whose GPA is not satisfactory cannot benefit from the academic achievement scholarship till he/she increases his/her GPA to required level. As soon as the minimum requirement for Academic Achievement Scholarships’ is reached again, the student regains his/her scholarship rights.
All the students who come from nearly 60 countries and are the citizens of the third world countries/overseas are granted scholarships. Scholarships of various types are available for approximately all Asian countries and Turkic States in Asia. All Turkish Cypriot citizens are granted either full or half scholarships.
We proudly announce that all our scholarship awardees, especially Turkish citizens who are granted awards by ÖSYM-ÖSYS, complete their education successfully fulfilling required conditions for scholarship.
