If you are granted to gain a full scholarship (100%) by OSYM, your overall achievement is to be calculated at the end of the academic year. If your overall achievement falls below 2.00 out of 4.00 in the grading system where grading process is calculated out of 4, your OSYM scholarship is to be terminated. On condition that you increase your overall achievement over 2.00 throughout the following terms, then your scholarship is to be restarted. Half-scholarships (50%) are not subject to terms of termination applied for full scholarships and half scholarship is to be continuous.

You will not be able to mix and match different scholarship and discount packages. Only the highest figure package will be applied.

Yes, we do offer our students special packages including education +accommodation +3 meals a day for 4400 Euros annually.

This package is offered for the following faculties and departments: Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Communication, Faculty of Maritime Studies, Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, School of Physical Education and Sports, School of Tourism and Hotel Management, maritime Vocational School, Department of Interior Design.

Life in Nicosia, the capital city of Cyprus, does not differ in financial terms significantly from other university cities in Turkey. Living costs for students studying at the universities in big cities of Turkey were found to be comparable with living expenses of those studying in Nicosia.

Only a few departments and faculties use Turkish as their medium of instruction. These are: Ataturk Education Faculty, Faculty of Communication, Faculty of dentistry, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Theology, Department of Turkish Language and Literature.

NEU has an English Preparatory Program. An English proficiency exam is administered before starting to the specialist programs. Students having a valid TOEF or, IELTS result is exempted from the English Preparatory Program and start to their programs at the faculties. Depending on your level of English you will need to take English preparatory courses at the English Preparatory School for 1 or 2 semesters before starting to your program at the faculty.

The employment rate of our graduates is as high as 90%. Most of our graduates are members of the alumni associations which are located in many different countries including Turkey, and the members are employed at the largest companies in their respective cities.

Our diploma is recognized by YOK as well as many international accreditation boards. In addition, the Near East University is a full member of IAU (International Association of Universities) which is an academic authority operating under United Nations, and EAU (European University Association), the academic authority of European Union. The university is also a full member of FUIW (Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World). These memberships are shown on the diploma with special stamps. One of the institutional objectives of NEU is to make academic contracts and agreements with various universities and other higher education institutions to take part in staff exchange programs.

The university offers half scholarships (50%) to all students who pass the special aptitude test depending on their YGS score.

The tests are administered starting from the day the YGS scores are announced and the students get their high school diplomas until the date determined by the University. The students can enroll after the results are announced.

Yes the scholarships are offered. Our scholarships offered are in progress for the English preparatory programs.

Transportation to island is generally carried out by air transport. There are 5 - 6 airline companies which offer direct flights from Turkey to Ercan Airport. There are 10 major cities in Turkey from where direct flights are provided to Cyprus; connecting flights provide even more options between overseas countries and Cyprus. Flight prices vary depending on the seasons, time of bookings and student vs. adult status. However, promotions are offered by many airline companies to make transportation easier and cheaper. Seaway transport to Cyprus is also possible from Mersin, Taşucu, and Alanya.

The Near East University offers accommodation opportunities to students at reasonable prices and in excellent conditions. There are 3 housing options for students at on-campus dormitories: economic, standard, luxury. There are 14 residence halls with a capacity of 5000 students on campus, and the annual cost of housing starts from €890.

There are students from approximately 55 different countries at Near East University, which gives the university an international identity. The blend of overseas students and foreign faculty members helps broaden our vision and educational policy.

Yes you can. You can find employment at the private sector. We also provide job opportunities for our students at our university Library and hospital. According to the regulations of the government, students are permitted to work on part-time status (not more than 20 hours per week). Once the student enrolls at the university and obtains a studentship certificate, he/she would need to get a student visa as well as a part-time work visa which is to be sponsored by the employer. Employers and the Work Permit Office will sign an agreement on behalf of the student.

There are employment opportunities on campus at the Information Technologies Center, the Grand Library and the NEU Hospital. This employment facility, which is called “scholarship by employment”, essentially aims to financially support students without interrupting their studies.
